Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and Atticus Ross have taken home their first Academy Award after winning Best Original Score for The Social Network.
Beating out the likes of veteran Hans Zimmer and Alexandre Desplat, Reznor tweeted shortly after his win. The award comes after wins coming out of the Golden Globes, the Los Angeles Film Critics Society, Broadcast Film Critics Association, and the Boston Society of Film Critics.
Reznor previously wrote on the NIN website:
“I’m happy to tell you we’re nearing the completion of this and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out. The level of excellence that (director David Fincher) operates on is inspiring and the entire process has been challenging and truly enjoyable.”
Reznor’s next film-scoring project will be for the upcoming adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, also directed by The Social Network‘s David Fincher. The film is currently scheduled for a December release.
