As I Lay Dying is an American metal band hailing from San Diego, CA founded in 2000 by their singer Tim Lambesis. Since their beginnings in 2000, the band has provided the perfect music for metal enthusiasts until 2014 due to some pretty interesting circumstances. Lambesis, in late 2013 was arrested after hiring an undercover detective to assassinate his separated wife. Due to the arrest, the band had to go on a hiatus as they couldn’t perform without the founding member.
During this time, the remaining members of the band decided to play music under a different name, Wovenwar. In 2016, Lambesis was released from prison on probation following what was supposed to be a six year sentence. After his release up until now, As I Lay Dying released one new single and played one show. Things are about to change.
When Lambesis was released with barely one-third of the time served, people have taken to ask as to why this happened. Still, to this day, no rep of Lambesis or the singer himself will confirm why he was released so early. The speculation, is however, that Lambesis was released on parole for good behavior. Last year, an interview surfaced in which guitarist of Dokken, George Lynch, discusses the future of Lambesis versus the rest of the members of As I Lay Dying. He says, “He’s out, he’s got a mega record deal, he’s got a book deal, everything’s lined up for him. I mean, he’s going to skate through life. Everybody else is suffering. His wife is living in fear, his children are living in fear. His band doesn’t have a pot to piss in.” Though Lambesis did get the better part of the cake than his band members, this quote may not ring as true as it did a year ago. Since As I Lay Dying is still touring and recording, it appears that everyone may end up okay.
Now, though, as The PRP has noted, As I Lay Dying have announced their first North American tour since the release of their singer. This news also followed the news that the band will be on a wide European tour, as well. This tour will take place following the European Tour, with the first date on November 2nd.
