As two of the most prolific artists in the psychedelic rock world, it only made sense that Ty Segall and White Fence would team up again for a new album. That record is called Joy and it will be released July 20 through Drag City — judging from the songs released so far, it’s going to be a ripper.
Today, the duo shared another new song from the album, this one called “Body Behavior.” The song is a frenetic acoustic jam with a touch of punk attitude mixed with classic psych-rock harmonizing and vocal effects. The jagged strumming and menacing affectations are a welcome complement to earlier single “Good Boy’s” more mellow tendencies.
Ty Segall and White Fence also have several tour dates scheduled this summer. The tour is quite limited, as the duo get together for just six shows so far in the Pacific Northwest and far Northern California. The lone exception is their excursion to the desert for the appropriately named (though ever-moving) festival Desert Daze. Following his short tour with White Fence, Ty Segall will embark on a solo tour playing intimate venues and exploring some of his less-performed material.
Meanwhile, White Fence (aka Tim Presley of Nerve Agents, Darker My Love and more) has also kept very busy in 2018. He teamed up with another quite-prolific star of the psychedelic rock scene, Cate Le Bon for another album under their title DRINKS. Titled Hippo Lite, it was inspired by their writing sessions in Southern France. It’s sneakily one of the better albums to be released this year, though Ty Segall and White Fence are aiming to outdo it. DRINKS will hit the road this fall in support of the album.
