With electronic-pop group Moonbeau scheduled to drop their debut LP at the end of next month, they’ve shared the first single from the album called “Like The Night.” The song is built a strong pop songwriting foundation, with verses pulling in the listener and a bouncing chorus hooking them in for good. The album is called Moonbeau and will be released on June 29 through Old Flame records.
Moonbeau are lead by Claire Muenchen and Christian Gough, who teamed up to expand on Gough’s appreciation for 80s synth groups like the artsy New Order and the more commercial Flock of Seagulls. “Like The Night” exhibits those influences to a “T” though there is certainly a more modern air about the track.
“‘This song is about having such strong feelings for someone that you get light headed or daydream practically every time you think of them,” Meunchen said about the track. “The opening of this song is a cut up vocal sample being played on a midi keyboard, something that we thought was kind of funny at first, but it ended up fitting the song so well. Christian wrote this song while listening bands like Bleachers and Grouplove. Like most of this album, this song was created almost entirely in FL Studio. We recorded the vocals and guitars after the fact with our good friend Chad Wahlbrink. Chad actually mixed and mastered the whole record.”
