Arcadian Child are on the cusp of releasing their debut album this Friday, May 18. Chock full of hard-rocking neo-psych, we have the premiere of a perfect example of that sound, “She’s On My Mind.” The guitars wail with bluesy bravado and there’s just enough fuzz to give it that hazy stoner rock feel. Meanwhile, the anthemic chorus and simple, titular refrain of “She’s on my mind” give it a sing-along quality that makes it stick in your head.
Arcadian Child formed in 2013 in Cyprus and after a few years of honing their sound with jam-filled shows. Their first album is called Afterglow. It’s being released by Rogue Wave Records and you can find the pre-order here.
The video accompaniment is a perfect match for the band’s sound, with saturated footage of vintage car chases, a beautiful blonde actress and plenty of horrific and mysterious symbolism. The video, created by Ian Nothe and contains clips from a 1962 Herk Harvey film called A Carnival of Souls, which starred Candace Hilligoss in one of her most prominent roles. The clips of the actress being pursued by strange beings, all washed over with a blood red saturation gives the horror scenes a whole new, slightly modern feel.
