SXSW, Austin’s nine-day musical phenomenon, is pleased to announce this year’s keynote presenter for music performances.
Bob Geldof, legendary Irish self-acclaimed singer and musician, has been selected for 2011’s SXSW Music Keynote Presentor and Showcase Performer. His talents, efforts, and accomplishments in the music industry since his emergence has led him to be named “one of Ireland’s greatest lyricists ever.”
Geldof is also notable for his role as Pink in Pink Floyd’s 1982 film, The Wall. Other prominent acts include his coming-of-age pop UK rock band, The Boomtown Rats, and his involvement in both a classic Christmas carol from the 80s and a best-selling single, “Do They Know Its Christmas?” with Midge Ure. which was written in efforts to raise money for the Ethiopian Famine of 1984-85. He is also regularly recognized as a political activist and a charitable philanthropist.
SXSW is more than excited to have Bob Geldof a part of the festival’s team this year. SXSW 2011 is just one of Geldof’s many occasions where he speaks, sings, and shares insight to an excited, loyal audience.
