Cold Cave, Los Angeles based synth-pop band, have been known for their dark and shaodw-esque musical motifs, but it has been about four years since their 2014 album Full Cold Moon. Now, though, according to Stereogum and as noted by Cold Cave member Wesley Eisold, the band will release a fresh EP titled You & Me & Infinity. The aforementioned EP will contain to already released singles “Glory” and the 2016 Valentine’s day release of “Nothing is True but You.” Aside from these tracks, there will also be two brand-spankin’-new songs one with the title of the EP. Check out “You & Me & Infinity” below.
The new video and song seem to feel and act as a reintroduction into the band as well as their ultimate return from their unofficial musical hiatus. Even though they may have released new music in that past, this is the first album they have released in four years, so, there seems to be a possible hint at their return to the music world.
The video opens to a dark, black screen accompanied by a loud and piercing white noise. Soon the words Cold Cave take a quick flash on the screen which then becomes a hand playing the synth-pop melody that Cold Cave has been known to flesh out. There is a classic drum beat alongside the even more classic 80s style vocals: the deep yet emotive sounds that 1980s synth-pop is synonymous for. Accompanying all these wonderful metallic sounds is the metallic and rolling chords of what appears to be a synth using a gated sequencer. If you want to revisit the 80’s or just bob your entire body to the music of an incredible Cold Cave song, then “You & Me & Infinity” is the perfect place to start. Hey, it may even blast you off into a Disneyland’s Space Mountain-type adventure. See the tracklist for the EP below. You & Me & Infinity will debut on June 1st of 2018.
