Death Grips has taken album announcements to a new minimalist extreme. Upon visiting their official website, there is nothing to see but a pitch-black page with six words in white — “Death Grips Year of the Snitch.” One would be mistaken into thinking that was it, until scrolling to the bottom of the page and seeing in more words in white, “new album coming soon.”
It’s a little of a delayed reaction for fans of Death Grip, who have been anticipating an announcement since the group announced they were working on a new album in 2017. The group appears to be taking more than a little pleasure in trolling the fans on social media.

The experimental hip-hop project put out its first mixtape, Exmilitary, in 2011. It became a favorite among critics upon its release, and , Death Grips were signed to Epic the following year. The label planned on delivering the follow-up album, No Love Deep Web, that same year, but when Death Grips released it themselves as a free download, the group was let go from Epic. They moved on to launch their own label, Third Worlds. In 2014, the group announced their “disbandment,” claiming that they had done their best, only to reveal the following that they had never broken up. The band’s last album, Bottomless Pit, was leaked from the group’s Soundcloud via Reddit.
Earlier in the month, they revealed on their official Instagram account a picture of Shrek director Andrew Adamson, and and Tool bassist Justin Chancellor who are collaborating with the band on their new record. It looks like fans will need to wait a little bit longer to hear the results.
