The Atlanta garage punk trio the Coathangers led by guitarist Julia Kugel with Meredith Franco on bass, and Stephanie Luke on drums are starting off 2018 with a good start. The band has announced their 2018 Spring tour which kicked off this month.
The first set of shows are all part of the Burger-A-Go-Go, a touring festival that features some of the best female-fronted acts out right now including Dengue Fever, Death Valley Girls, Winter, the Flytraps. Once the festival comes to a close, the trio will go on to support Minus The Bear in April before heading out on their own at the end of May.
The all-female punk rock band came together in 2006 as ameer chance to have fun and make music.“I think all bands in their early twenties start for fun,” says guitarist/vocalist Julia Kugel regarding their early beginnings. Since that time, the trio has made six studio albums and have made a name in the punk scene. Last summer, the Coathangers released their sixth EP Parasite, 15 minutes of 5 headbanging tracks.
