Ex-Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is set to premiere the one-of-a-kind experience that is Precision Guided Musicians on Dec. 2 at this year’s Art Basel in Miami. PGM Art Project is a contemporary music-based project that transcends the barriers between art, technology and music. More after the jump.
The PGM Art Project will be providing an art grant, gallery series and music festivals in the coming months. The idea is to challenge/subvert the concept of precision guided munitions aka smart bombs: imagine “the military being used for peace and entertainment.”
To promote this idea, Farrell and Garrett Chau have created the PGM Art Project Grant whose recipient will receive $7,000 and whose artwork will be displayed at future PGM events. Lola Ink Media will book a gallery series for the artist in major markets such as Los Angeles and NYC. Starting today, Tuesday, November 16, all street and fine artists are encouraged to apply for the PGM Art Project Grant by submitting a 300 DPI Hi-Res scan of artwork along with their contact information to: artproject@pgmfestival.com.
It’s all about the music, and musicians who use precision guided instruments, like computers, synthesizers, mixing boards, drum machines etc… In the coming years Precision Guided Musicians will go around the U.S and the world. -Perry Farrell
