Sweet Apple, the indie rock band comprised of members of Cobra Verde (singer John Petkovic and guitarist Tim Parnin), Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis, and Witch bassist Dave Sweetapple, have had a busy 2017, even appearing on both of mxdwn‘s lists at #17 for Top Albums of 2017 and #40 for Top Songs of 2017. Sweet Apple had Mark Boone Jr. in their video for “Everybody’s Leaving,” Mark Lanegan and Robert Pollard for “World I’m Gonna Leave You,” and Rachel Haden in “Summer’s Gone,” the latter of which has returned for the video of “A Girl and A Gun.”
The video for “A Girl and A Gun,” features Haden getting ready while a man in an astronaut suit hitchhikes. According to Sweet Apple, the video was “Filmed at the Salton Sea and in Los Angeles, California by Julien Lasseur (street scenes), Daniel Marks (desert) and Jack Schitt (dressing room).” The video was directed by John Petkovic, who also directed “Summer’s Gone.” Read the mxdwn review of Sweet Apple’s 2017 record Sing the Night in Sorrow, and watch the video for “A Girl and A Gun” below:
