A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help fund the Leukemia treatment for Psychic TV founder Genesis’ P-Orridge, who was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year, as reported by Consequence of Sound. The diagnosis forced the cancellation of Psychic TV tour dates and had left the band leader in a desperate financial situation. Campaign organizer Douglas Rushkoff hopes to raise enough funds so that P-Orridge can live comfortably while undergoing experimental chemotherapy treatment, blood infusions, and a healing sigil.
P-Orridge first rose to fame fronting the legendary industrial band Throbbing Gristle before founding Psychic TV. P-Orridge, known for their countercultural and transgressive views, was always one to push the boundaries of what was acceptable in mainstream culture, becoming one of the most famous occult-leaning artists in recent memory. Earlier this year Throbbing Gristle made their entire discography available on streaming services for the first time and released a special 40th anniversary edition of their debut album. Psychic TV had been in the midst of a successful round of touring in support of last year’s release, Alienist. The hope is that P-Orridge will be able to recover from the leukemia treatment and make a full recovery so that Psychic TV can resume touring at some point next year.
