Presented by React, and newly announced, Matoma is taking over the Concord Music Hall in Chicago for a pair of shows next March. Accompanying him on the first ‘One In A Million Tour’ Chicago night are Robotaki and BKAYE, and Elephante and BKAYE the following night.
Tom Lagergren, the Norwegian DJ and producer, traded his classical piano for Cubase Pro, synth sounds, and tropical house tracks. Inspired by his older brother’s music collection that consisted of Paul van Dyk, Tiesto and Armin van Buuren, Lagergren soon became the next big sensation to come out of the European EDM scene.
What makes him unique is his vast knowledge with his craft. Lagergren had already been releasing music under the stage name Matoma in high school. After he graduated he decided that a Bachelor’s degree in Music Technology would help him reach his goals in the music industry. So, he attended the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and began to see recognition for his work by 2014.
In 2015, he released his official single as Matoma. The dancehall track titled “Feeling Right (Everything Is Nice)” featured big names like Wale and Popcaan, and helped draw the eyes of the EDM world. Eventually, the song made it onto his debut LP, Hakuna Matoma that arrived at the end of 2015.
Having now worked with masters of tropical sound Sean Paul, Akon, Magic!, and even Coldplay, Matoma is quickly making a name for himself and taking over the arena of “tropical sounding” music. His enchanting remixes and laid-back use of tropical sounds like synths, flutes, and guitars create the right vibes and perfect de-stressed atmosphere for any EDM crowd. Ages 17 and over are allowed at the event for both nights and tickets are on sale now. Do not miss your chance to catch captivating vibes from Matoma and many more early next year!
