Since its inception in the summer of 2010, the Adult Swim Singles Series has brought fans countless free-downloads of fantastic singles from fantastic artists every week. But this year, the good people at Adult Swim have decided to go even further and provide a full year’s worth of free singles.
As the 19th song to be released in the 52 part series, Wavves, the California garage/surf rock darlings led by Nathan Williams, have shared their brand new song “The Lung.” Though the track features markedly better production than the lo-fi records that first grabbed the public’s attention, it doesn’t lack the punchy instrumentation and sense of melody that makes Wavves so likable.
This year’s Single Series so far have included cuts by Tanya Tagaq, Wolves in the Throne Room, Sad13, Deerhoof, and more. You can look forward to future tracks from Migos, Julian Casablancas + the Voiz, Brian Eno, DOOM with Jay Electronica, Zola Jesus, Thundercat, Sleep, Shabazz Palaces, and Pallbearer, as well as regular contributors Run The Jewels and Flying Lotus.
Wavves themselves have been making 2017 their year in a variety of other ways: the band had just released their critically sixth record You’re Welcome earlier this year, and have recently announced a co-headlining North American tour along with Joyce Manor kicking off in October.
Listen to the new single, which channels the best aspects of 2010’s King of the Beach and fuses it with something delightfully new, below.
