The video for Gogol Bordello’s “Immigraniada (We Comin’ Rougher),” released 4 days ago, is very heavily pro-immigration, containing images of the band as miserable, underpaid workers in unfavorable conditions edited with scenes of Ellis Island.  As an immigrant himself, Eugene Hütz and the band “wanted to make a video that stimulates against judgementality,” citing the difficult political realities of the day as paradigmatic of our generation.  Hütz goes on to say that they “wanted this song to be somewhat anthemic for our fans,” a marker of our determination not to repeat the same mistakes and bring some sense to the global turmoil of right now.  Here’s the video:
