Lyrics Born, first an underground MC artist and now one of the most successful Bay Area artists will be coming to San Francisco to perform at the Independent on November 25th! You can’t miss it!
Lyrics Born, a single artist who back in 1993 used to go with the moniker of Asia Born, is the first artist to have released an EP with Soleside Records in San Francisco (CA). Later on, the artist began collaborating with the labelmate Lateef on both the album and single “Latryx”, which became a global success and sold more than 100,000 copies globally. Lyrics Born is well-known for being an underground MC artist who has collaborated with some recognized figures of the Bay Area such as DJ Shadow, Blackalicious, The Truth Speaker and Lateef, who had a significant influence on his style and helped him with his success.
A few years later, in 2003, Lyrics Born dropped his first solo album called Later That Day, which was a total hit in the Bay Area. One of the album’s singles, “Callin’ Out” became quite a success up to the point that it stayed at #1 for over a month on San Francisco’s radio station. This was a tremendous achievement as it became the first hip-hop single to become that influential in the Bay Area. One year later, the artist commenced a solo tour, which would give him the title of “King of the Road” as he performed over 150 times over a year and even incorporated a couple of singles during the road. However, it wasn’t until 2005 that Lyrics Born would drop its next album, !”#$ Different Day, which would become Quannum’s fastest selling album, which would bring the artist significant benefits shortly. As a result of the album’s success Lyrics Born featured many highly recognized t.v. Shows from the day such as Entourage and even video games like Atari, which became a major licensing project for the artist.
The next few years were incredibly busy and full of new adventures for Lyrics Born, as he made an appearance at several of the most recognized art and music festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, among others. Moreover, LB appeared on E! Entertainment where he reunited with the Fast and Furious 3 director, Justin Lin for the debut of his Finishing The Game film.
In other words, LB started as an underground hip-hop artist, but with his skills, talent, and the many opportunities he has ceased over the years have gotten him to become one of the Bay Area’s most successful artists. This is why supporting local talent is always good, as it will eventually come to light and we don’t want to keep that talent hidden for ourselves, do we?
