Illinois based emo band American Football has recently reunited for after a 14-year hiatus. Originally formed in 1997 until 2000, American Football decided to stop recording music with each other. In 2014, the band got back together for a few shows of the fall year. American Football has been together since then. The band consists of singer Mike Kinsella, drummer Steve Lamos, and guitar Steve Holmes currently. American Football has released 2 studio albums and one EP in their career. While other members went on to form other bands, Mike and Steve went to work with Steve Holmes. American Football released a self-titled EP in 1998. The EP didn’t garner enough buzz like in the emo music world. The following year, American Football released their debut studio album under Polyvinyl Records. Even though their album did very well, American Football decided to stop working together.
It wasn’t until 2014 when fans would hear about American Football again. Their record label released a deluxe version of their 1999 self-titled album with 9 unreleased songs and a few others. The whole set was released on May 20, 2014. In April 2014, fans were teased with a website linking to the band on their social media accounts.
