Last month Deer Tick announced a pair of new albums that would be released simultaneously – one focusing on the bands softer acoustic side and the other the rock side. Today, the band has released a new song from the second album, titled “Jumpstarting.” True to the form promised when the two albums were announced, the song has bouncing tempos and an anthemic chorus, promising the listener “I’ll be there for you.” The song is accompanied by a simple visualizer that depicts the band members lounging beside a pool, drinking beers, lighting their faces on fire and driving on a sit-on-top lawn mower. The animation was provided by James Kerr / Scorpion Dagger. Both albums are available on September 15, 2017.
The band has also recently announced a substantial tour that will begin this summer and stretch until the end of 2017. It kicks off with a handful of festival appearances, including the Americana Music Festival in Nashville and Pickathon in Oregon. Then, the band will embark on a cross country tour that heads from the Southeastern United States through the Midwest before hitting the West Coast. The band will then traverse the Southwest with appearances in Texas and Arizona (sorry New Mexico) before heading back up the East Coast and concluding with a show at Brooklyn Steel in New York City.
