Anne Erin Clark, better known by her stage name St. Vincent, is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and an American pop singer. St. Vincent’s music has been described as a mixture of soft rock, electropop with jazz influences. Since her career began, St. Vincent has released 4 studio albums, 4 EPs, and a handful of hit singles. St. Vincent’s self-titled fourth album won album of the year in 2014 by Entertainment Weekly, NME, and Slant Magazine. St. Vincent won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album, making her the first solo female artist in 20 years to win in that category.
St. Vincent began playing music at the age of 12, working as a roadie for her aunt and uncle. After St. Vincent dropped out of Berklee College of Music, St. Vincent continued to focus her time on her music. She released her debut album, Marry Me on July 10, 2007. The album was based on songs Anne Clark wrote when she was young. In 2008, St. Vincent was nominated for three PLUG Independent Music Awards. That night, Anne took home the Female of the Year Award. St. Vincent headlined her first tour in support of her debut album in 2007. St. Vincent released her second album, Actor in 2009. St. Vincent stated she drew inspiration from various Disney films for this album. The album peaked at number 9 on Billboard’s Independent Albums Chart.
In 2014, St. Vincent announced the dates for her European Tour. Later the year, St. Vincent released her fourth album, St. Vincent. Rolling Stones ranked the album at number 2 while Time put the album at number 4. Due to popular demand, St. Vincent extended her Digital Witness Tour to Summer 2015. St. Vincent traveled all over Asia, Europe, and the US. Earlier this year, St. Vincent announced her Fear The Future tour dates, set to start later this year.
