Xavier Rudd, an Australian singer-songwriter, has been known to use spirituality and humanity as common themes in his songs. Xavier Rudd is a rare musician who only comes around every ten years, using his love of music as a way to spread love everywhere he goes. Xavier Rudd has released eight studio albums and live albums from various festivals in his career. The multi-instrumentalist has self-taught himself to use many instruments including the guitar, banjo, and percussion. Xavier Rudd’s debut album, To Let, has been certified gold in Australia.
At a young age, Xavier had an interest in music while growing up in a large family. While in school, Xavier taught himself guitar using his the one his brother had. After graduating high school, Xavier Rudd moved to Fuji for nine months before moving back to Australia at the age of 19. Before his solo career, Xavier Rudd was the leader of “Xavier and the Hum”. The band did perform a lot of songs with inspiration from Native American music. In 2004, Xavier Rudd released Solace, his first album to be released by Universal Music Australia. Rudd performed all the instruments on the album aside from a few overdubs. Rudd next album, Dark Shades of Blue, featured a darker tone with more heavier sounds. In 2012, Rudd released another album titled Spirit Bird after an inspirational encounter with a red-tailed cockatoo.
Xavier Rudd has been a part of various causes, showing his love for the environment. In 2014, Rudd performed at the Bentley blockade in support of the Lock the Gate Alliance. During his career, Xavier Rudd has performed at Bonnaroo, High Sierra, and various others. Xavier Rudd is been known to tour with Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Dave Matthews, Good Old War, and G. Love. Xavier Rudd is currently working on another album.
