“The weirder the better” says Ex-Cult’s Chris Shaw of their music style.
The intense punk rock band hailing from Memphis formed back in 2011 and went by the name Sex Cult. The band performs fast-paced rock songs that have a tinge of their Tennessee roots mixed in. Ex-Cult teamed up with Ty Segall when they released their debut self-titled album in 2012. The group traveled to San Francisco to record with Segall and the album received positive reviews for the up and coming band. The music was definitely influenced by the Bay Area and is an eclectic mix of sounds.
Midnight Passenger was released in 2014 and follows up with Negative Growth in 2016. The band is now on tour and scheduled to pay at Empty Bottle this August – check out the details below.
