Ten years after releasing their fifth album, Colors, the North Carolina based band, Between the Buried and Me will engage in a special tour starting this September and into October. As part of this special tour, the band will perform the album in its entirety. This concept of performing an album from beginning to end strays from some concerts which performs songs out of sync.
In an interview with Dan Briggs, the bassist of Between the Buried and Me when he discussing their previous tour, expresses the difference in what you hear at home to what you see on stage. “…to see the record performed in its entirety with just the five dudes playing it. It’s kind of a different spin on what you hear when you drop the needle on the record. It’s the same content but it’s a pretty stripped down, honest representation of it.”
The album, Colors is separated in 8 tracks and gives the impression of one continuous song, with transitions between each part. The album was recorded in the months of April and May of 2007 and recieved a great reception. It sold around 12,600 copies in its first week and reached 57 on the Billboard 200 which was the first time the band reached the top 100.
The band expressed their comments on the album; “Colors was our statement of rebellion. We were challenging how others identified us in the context of heavy metal, and ultimately, we were challenging how we identified ourselves. It was some kind of musical manifesto, in which we found new purpose and direction simply by throwing caution to the wind and purging every ounce of creative energy we had, regardless of how unhinged it may have seemed at the time. Ten years have passed and we are lucky enough to be able to play this album from front to back on stage for our amazing fans. See you all soon!”
Between The Buried and Me recently released their DVD and Blu-ray of Coma Ecliptic Live via Metal Blade Records in association with Good Fight. The video, directed by Vince Edwards and edited by Black Faucette and Justin Reich, features the band’s live concert and performance of Coma Ecliptic at The Observatory North Park in San Diego in October of 2016.
The Ten Year Anniversary Tour will also feature support from The Contortionist, Polyphia, and Toothgrinder. Tickets will be available to purchase Friday, May 19th at 10:00am. For more details visit @BTBAMOfficial on Facebook.
