It’s over a year now since we lost legendary Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland to a tragic overdose. While “Drop That Baby,” a track by his latest act Scott Weiland and the Wondergirls has been available for several years and an unreleased track, “Massive Heart Attack,” leaked online in December of 2016, there has been a significant void left in his passing and the breakup of Stone Temple Pilots. Now, however, it looks like we might get one last offering from the incredible singer.
Foley Entertainment has written on YouTube that more unreleased music from Weiland and the Wondergirls is on the way. “I’ve been working with Jay Gordon and Ashley Hamilton to convert the original reels from the 2000 recording sessions to MP3 so we can finish producing and remixing them to release them. Yes they are currently 3 songs out, including the video chosen as their single, and 1 song with Jay on vocals that is unfished.”
The statement continued, elaborating on the release of the material (don’t expect to add to your vinyl collection) saying “we hope to complete a full album but when completed it will be released on ITunes or Amazon. No plan to release a cd or vinyl as one person asked me. I look forward to releasing what may be Scott Weiland’s last unreleased music, as most everything else is already here on YouTube. I know there are songs I haven’t heard on these reels.”
The recording sessions for the unreleased material is a revolving door of talent including Jay Gordon, Ashley Hamilton, Scott Weiland, Shannon Leto (Thirty Seconds to Mars), Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age), Martyn LeNoble (Jane’s Addiction/Porno For Pyros, Ian Astbury (The Cult), and Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray). So yeah, it’s probably going to be great.
