The experimental pop-rock instrumentalists, The Octopus Project, first started out in Austin in 1999. Over the years, the band has released six albums, a few EPs and a collaboration album with Black Moth Super Rainbows. They have also performed at a few significant festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, All Tomorrow’s Parties, Austin City Limits, Moogfest and South by Southwest (SXSW). In 2010 at SXSW, the band performed a multi-media show based on their upcoming album, Hexadecagon, in a tent that had visuals projecting everywhere with several speakers that enhanced the experience. Memory Mirror is their latest record that was released on April 7, 2017. The album experiments through spacey ambient rhythms that give each of the 13 songs different types of textures.

The Octopus Project, will be ending their tour in the heart of their hometown. ‘Memory Mirror Multisensory Menagerie’ will be at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum for one night only. The museum will be twisting it up a bit in the Texas Spirit Theater that normally shows films about Texas history, it’ll be the first time ever for an artist to perform in the venue. If you’ve ever watched anything in the Texas Spirit Theatre, imagine everything going on in the room except for with a band performing. For those of you who haven’t been in the Texas Spirit Theatre, you sure are in for a treat! Along with The Octopus Project’s performance, there will be surround sound, trippy visuals, crazy weather effects and rumbling seats. It should be a memorable night for both fans and the band.
