Washington DC has been blowing into Austin and SXSW for five years now. And, with every year, DC Events impresses a bit of South-East Machismo by way of the Mason-Dixon Line, and it gets bigger and better every year. The District of Columbia has come to cement their city’s slogan and trademark as “The Live Music Capitol of The World.”
What ensues is DC Event’s annual SXSW showcase aimed at billing their own “kind” in another state, where everything is BIGGER. And, this year DC did not let it’s city down: The showcase payed homage to their “homegrown” talents with national favorites such as Thievery Corporation.
But, what really slated the evening as a cut above the musical rest was a surprise, live-canoodling, musically that is, of Erykah Badu, Redman and the Wu-Tang Clan. Okay…so Wu-Tang isn’t exactly a DC band. Actually, they aren’t at all…as offspring from the ’90’s recall the hip-hop group proudly owns their NYC residency. However, as Washington continues to prove their stake in live-music prestige, there is no denying that Wu-Tang can certainly help out with that aspect.
Catch Boss Martinez’s video of the epic ensemble, and get a glimpse of some surprise “super jamming” with a sprinkling of more than just one city. Can I get some C.R.E.A.M. puhleeez?
