Give the audience the journey that we’ve taken …
It’s time dig out that old purple eyeliner and gear up because the synthpop/rock band is touring making a stop at sunny South Florida in April.
In case you’re a millennial, The Beatles weren’t the only hot band to hail from England. Duran Duran is another UK import and they brought with them an electronica-slash-alternative rock sound that has commanded a steady fan base of loyal followers since 1984.
As a matter of fact, Duran Duran is part of what music historians called the Second British Invasion which puts them in the company of other ‘80s icons as Billy Idol, Flock of Seagulls and The Police – that’s right – Sting’s The Police.
Furthermore, for cynics who think: “What’s the big deal with Duran Duran anyway?” Let me first scold your cold, little black heart and kindly remind that Duran Duran is not a ‘80s one-hit-wonder band, but a powerhouse of hits and successes that include 14 singles in the Top Ten of the UK Singles Chart, 21 in the Billboard Hot 100, have sold over 100 million records worldwide and are still playing massive festivals such as Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
They are touring to promote their latest release: Paper Gods and one of Duran Duran’s founding members and bassist John Taylor recently told The Press Enterprise: “We’re trying to give the audience the journey that we’ve taken.”
He added that he thinks the last few months on the road may be the last for the Paper Gods tour, so call up the hot “Electric Barbarella” in your life to be your plus one and don’t let this one pass you by.
