alt-J has just announced the follow up to their Grammy nominated album, This Is All Yours, and a single to accompany the announcement. The new album is titled Relaxer, track list below, and is set for a June 9 release via Canvasback Music. Charlie Andrew has returned for the third time to produce on the album. The first single released from Relaxer is titled “3WW,” also found below. This will be the albums top track on the list and features Ellie of Wolf Alice. A melodic instrumental introduces the song for almost two minutes till the haunting vocals sway into the trance and carry its listener till the song’s finish, another masterpiece from one of current musics most innovative groups.
The newly announced album will be accompanied by a summer tour, where alt-J will play festival and headlining gigs across the US. The current tour dates can be found below, with most yet to be announced. A special offer has been made available for fans that pre-order the new album via the band’s web store, as they will have access to the tour’s pre-sale tickets. For a tour that will surely sell out most of its shows, the March 7 pre-sale tickets will be a much appreciated commodity. The tickets will go on sale at 10am local for the pre-sale and will be available to the general public three days later. The tour will be based in North America, landing the band in major cities such as Boston, Cleveland and Los Angeles for headlining gigs and at famous venues, such as Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. The group will also play some festival gigs, including the Panorama Music and Arts Festival in New York, NY and Hinterland Music Festival in St. Charles, IA.
alt-J was featured as MXDWN’s song of the year in 2014, for their song “Hunger of the Pine.” The track was off of their last album, This is all Yours.
