The London based rock band, Wire, has just announced a Spring 2017 tour in support of their 15th studio album Silver/Lead. The new album is due out on March 31, which is right before their 40th anniversary as a band.
The tour is set to kick off on March 28 at the Crescent Ballroom in Pheonix, AZ and will finish in Seattle, WA at the Crocodile on April 8. A big chunk of the tour is centralized in California, with three of the dates being taken up by their DRILL festival dates. For a full list of tour dates and ticketing information, see below.
Wire’s 40th is on April 1 and celebrates the “classic 4 piece’s” first gig at the Roxy Club. To usher in the celebration, The UK rockers will be headlining at the band’s Los Angeles edition of the boutique city festival DRILL : LA, a festival said to mark “40 years of not looking back.”
The festival will begin on March 30 and end on April 2 and will be held at the Echo & Echoplex in Los Angeles, CA. Other acts to be joining Wire at the festival are Bob Mould, Julia Holter, Mild High Club, Laetitia Sadier and FITTED to name a few. The current full lineup for the festival can be found below with more special guests to be announced soon.
Wire are a band that have been said to influence the likes of Blur, Sonic Youth, R.E.M. and Savages. Over their tenured career the band has made one thing evident through their work, they don’t dwell on the past. With the goal of forward motion in mind, the band has recently been host to a string of sold out shows and achieved career-best record sales. They have also been cited as being one of the strongest influence to yet another generation of young bands.
