This past week, the Ally Coalition Benefit presented their third annual show. The Ally Coalition Talent Show is a concert presented yearly to support the homeless LGBTQ youth community. Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff presents the Ally Coalition benefit concert in New York City annually. This past year it was held at Webster Hall. The benefit presents various acts from actors, comedians and musicians. This includes stand-up comedies, speeches and songs. Fortunately for the audience there was an array of talented artists this year.
The 2016 show featured Bleachers, Carly Rae Jensen, Charli XCX, Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES, Hansan Minhaj, Mike Birbiglia, Jordan Carlos and Antonoff’s fun. Andrew Dost hosted the event and took the stage the entire night. Videos from that night show the stage set with holiday themed décor- a Christmas tree, holiday lights surrounding the stage, appealing to the eyes.
Videos from the night show the audience stunned in silence listening to the angelic vocalist and pianist covering “Hang With Me” Performed by surprise guest Lorde. Stunning guests with this meticulous performance. Along with this spectacular shocking performance was an upbeat cover of “Fireworks” by Katy Perry performed by Lauren Mayberry along with a guitarist. In the video, you are able to see the crowd become a bit more vocal due to the upbeat loud music. Then, Carly Rae Jensen captivated the audience by singing “Run Away With Me” with her compellingly strong voice. Next, Charli XCX performed an acoustic version of “Need Ur Luv.” For the grand finale, every performer gathered on stage to cover Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hit, “Go Your Own Way.” In the video, you are able to see all of the artists musical chemistry while performing.
