Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are celebrating their 40th anniversary of the self-titled album. To pay tribute to the occasion, the UMe and Reprise/Warner Bros. Records are releasing a reissue of the band’s entire discography as a pair of two vinyl box sets. The Complete Studio Albums Volume 1 will feature nine albums starting with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers up to 1991’s Into the Great Wide Open. Also featured in the set is Petty’s first solo LP from 1989 Full Moon Fever. As another bonus, the first three records, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, You’re Gonna Get It! and Damn the Torpedoes have been remastered since the 2010 and 2011 reissues.
The Complete Studio Albums Volume 2 contains 7 LPs starting with Petty’s second solo effort Wildflowers and ends with 2014’s Hypnotic Eye. All of the included records are double LPs except for 1996’s Song and Music from She’s the One. The Hypnotic Eye and Mojo records are both pressed from the original master.
It may seem kind of odd the scheduling for the release of the reissues. Volume 2 coming out first on November 25th while Volume 2 is set to be released December 9th. Pre-orders are available for both sets now via TomPetty.com.
