Coming fresh off of announcing that their new album Woman will be coming out in November, Justice has released more new music. The only thing needed to enjoy this video is free time and a healthy obsession with dancing until you can’t go any longer. Justice has returned to shake up the music world with a new video for their song “Alakazam!”. Upon watching the video, it can be pretty easy to miss the creative elements of the video because it appears to be concert footage cut down to their performance of “Alakazam!” in Mangle, London on September 16th, 2016. The funky vibes become visually stimulating as the video opens with a shot of audience members dancing in the crown. Synced with the music, a few of the concert goers are dancing to on beat as if they are listening to the music at the same time you are. The camera then cuts to up close shots of those attending the concert. The contrast is turned up a notch during this shot, which is a nice effect as there are bright lights in the background bouncing off the dancing concert goers.
As is common in this millennial generation when the camera cuts to a shot behind the crown a sea of cell phones can be seen capturing the performance of Justice. Like most concerts, everybody knows why they are attending. So when cuts to another aerial shot behind the crowd but instead holds it, those in attendance hold up two fingers in the air as a sign of unison almost as if this was planned out previously.
The crowd rages on as the camera continues to cut from shot to shot, some including portrait shots. As these rapid shots are happening, all of a sudden the rage begins to come to slow down, but not the music. A terrific job is done by using slow motion to capture a raging party. If you have never been to a live concert before then you will definitely feel that you have after watching this video.
The video is not light on glory shots of Justice standing on stage at the DJ booth raging and maintain control over a dance floor full of energized fans. If I was a fan who attended this concert, I would be extremely excited as they attention and eye of the camera is put on the fans throughout the entire video. In this day and age of screen shots and sharing on social media it can easily be seen why Justice would gain such an amazing reputation through word of mouth as the music makes you groove and the video makes you wish you were in attendance.
Justice makes use of what today, due to internet downloading, is the biggest and most consistent way of income for many artists and that is touring. You do not need to be a Justice “Stan” to understand why someone who you may not be familiar with is able to get a crowd full of people together so they can all rage in unison to the groovy and electric sounds.
