Some bands may think that if your frontman breaks both feet onstage in some hardcore stage antics, it is perfectly justifiable to end the night there, maybe even take a short break to recover. Trap Them is NOT just some band. At an October 15th performance at Bloodshedfest in Eindhoven, Netherlands, Ryan McKenney, the frontman of the Massachusetts grindcore outfit, really lived up to the name of the festival by jumping off of a speaker cabinet and breaking both of his feet.
Rather than stopping the show right there, McKenney and the band finished performing, albeit hunching over a stage monitor and grimacing in obvious pain but still growling.
Furthermore, the band didn’t cancel any of their upcoming tour dates; instead, they just continued playing, with McKenney performing with casts on both legs on an office chair (say goodbye to Dave Grohl’s throne of rock, the real throne is right here).
Trap Them’s latest album, Crown Feral, is out now via Prosthetic Records, and it is an excellent follow-up to the band’s fourth record Blissfucker.
Check out a video of Trap Them performing after the injury, a picture of McKenney right before he jumped from those fateful speakers, and another image of the band performing two nights later in London.
Much respect to @trapthem for putting on a great show! #TrapThem A photo posted by Sell Your Metal Shirts (@metalshirts4sale) on
