Adam Bravin of Los Angeles alternative group She Wants Revenge may be touring once again with fellow core member Justin Warfield, but he has something brand new up his sleeve as well. Kept well under wraps for a few months, Bravin’s new band is called Love, Ecstasy and Terror. Today, the band premieres its first single, a slow-burning piece of dark pop music entitled “Carousel.”
Over a heavy drum and bass beat and droning atmospherics, the lyrics use carousel motions as a metaphor for a damaged relationship. Considering the inspiration for the band’s name, it is fitting subject matter:
“Every relationship I’ve ever had has been a combination of Love, Ecstasy and Terror,” says Bravin. He goes on to explain that the band is his way of musically representing his past relationships that have been discarded, “hidden away in my heart,” waiting for the songwriter to unleash them through music and words. The lyrics of the song’s closing are telling of the dark feelings from those relationships:
“Now she’s gone / I shouldn’t be broken hearted / My best friend / Shouldn’t have wasted my time / From now on / I promise to listen to my heart / I will pretend / I’ll never have someone in my life.”
She Wants Revenge was formed in 2004 and released three studio full-length LPs before breaking up in 2012. The band has recently reunited and is currently on the road in support of the 10 year anniversary of their breakout self-titled debut. The band last released Valleyheart in 2011.
