Steve-n-steveN, the collaboration between former Blues Clues’ host Steve Burns and Flaming Lips drummer/producer Steven Drozd, are set to release their album Foreverywhere. They announced their upcoming children’s pysch-rock debut through Twitter earlier this week.
On Thursday, Steve-n-steveN formed an official Twitter account and shared Foreverywhere’s album cover. Burns also tweeted a promotional image of the duo, and along with Drozd launched a YouTube page and a website.
Foreverywhere’s release date and tracklist have yet to be announced. First single “The Unicorn and Princess Rainbow” can be downloaded from the duo’s website. A sneak peak of the track is currently available to watch.
Steve-n-steveN recorded their album in 2008, but various delays stalled their album’s official release. They first met in 2001, and worked extensively throughout the decade. Drozd contributed production on Burns’ 2003 debut album, Songs for Dustmites, and its follow-up Deep Sea Recovery Efforts. In 2007, they collaborated on “I Hog the Ground”, a track specifically produced for Nick Jr.’s Jack’s Big Music Show.
Steve-n-steveN premiered their official MySpace page in 2009, along with six tracks recorded in 2008. Prior to this week’s announcement, the music released through MySpace remained their final collaborative effort. Their page also included the following bio.
“One day, while searching everywhere for Princess Rainbow, a lonely unicorn named Steve Burns met a magical musical octopus named Steven Drozd in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. “Hi,” said Steve to Steven. “I like writing stories about outer space, wizards, and feelings.” “That’s cool,” said Steven to Steve while playing a bass guitar, Micro Moog synthesizer, and two Stylophones simultaneously. “I like to make brain burning musical soundscapes. Maybe you could add your stories to my music.” “Okay”, answered Steve, “let’s always do that right here in Oklahoma and never in New York City.” And that’s just what they did… for all us children.”
