Willie Nelson Teams Up With The Red Clay Strays’ Brandon Coleman For New Holiday Single “Pretty Paper”

Willie Nelson has a new Christmas gift for fans this year, as yesterday, November 6th, a new version of the classic holiday hit, “Pretty Paper” was released featuring Nelson alongside Brandon Coleman of The Red Clay Strays. The new take on an old classic comes as the latest collaboration between Nelson and the Red Clay Strays, following the band previously attending Nelson’s Luck Reunion in 2024 and Outlaw Music Festival in 2025. A visualizer for the new take on the track can be found on Nelson’s YouTube.

The new take on the song features fresh vocals from Nelson himself, providing a newer take on the words with age. Brandon Coleman takes over about a minute into the track, providing his own flavor of vocal delivery on the track. The two work together to blend their own takes on the track to create a new version for fans to enjoy this coming holiday season. The instrumentals, too, come with a slightly stronger tinge of country flavor to them, further helping this new take to stand out as a special present this season.

Nelson has many more gifts in store for his fans, with a new book from the artist coming soon. November 10th will see the release of THE LAST LEAF: Reflections on Late-Life Creativity–and My Longest Love Affair, a book which as the title suggests will feature the artist reflection on his creative career and romantic experiences with his partner, Annie. “Looking to the future as I look to the past,” Nelson writes, “I stay in the present.”

Steven Taylor: Hello, I'm Steven! I'm a graduate of Seton Hall University. I majored in journalism, with a minor in Public Relations. I've always had a passion for the arts and creative fields. Writing especially is an area I've always found myself gravitating towards, between assignments in class, working for the school newspaper or just writing in my spare time. I love providing and hearing new perspectives. In addition to my studies and work in writing, I work part-time at after-school and summer programs for my local elementary school. I've been a part of these programs since I was in high school, and I've even been assigned to work one-to-one with children with special needs. I like to think that if I'm able to communicate well with children in the 2nd grade, then I can communicate well with most adults too!
