Angine de Poitrine surprised fans during their sold-out performance at Toronto’s History on Thursday, November 5, debuting a new song and introducing a mysterious third character to their increasingly eccentric musical universe. The masked duo, comprised of Khn and Klek de Poitrine, welcomed a new polka-dotted figure onstage, sporting a box-shaped head, a long nose and two yellow antennae. Staying true to the group’s unconventional aesthetic, the mysterious newcomer joined the performance with a triangle in hand, eventually delivering an unexpected solo during the unreleased track.
According to Consequence, the new song featured the band’s signature blend of hypnotic guitar riffs, intricate rhythms and infectious grooves, with the addition of the triangle adding another unexpected element to their already distinctive sound. While the identity of the new character and the title of the song have yet to be revealed, the appearance has already sparked speculation among fans about what the addition could mean for the group moving forward. The Toronto performance marked the beginning of Angine de Poitrine’s latest North American tour leg, following a busy year that has seen the Quebec-based duo gain international attention for their unconventional approach to experimental rock. The group previously introduced another new track, “Zugzegk,” during their September appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Angine de Poitrine will continue their North American run with upcoming performances in Quebec City, Montreal, Brooklyn, Boston, Philadelphia and several other cities before wrapping up the year in Seattle on December 13. The duo is also scheduled to return to North America in 2027 for an extensive run of international touring dates, including a headlining performance at Toronto’s RBC Amphitheatre on July 18.
