Queens Of The Stone Age have released their new single “Run Away From The Mob” as the fourth track off of their upcoming album Perfecth. The nine-song album will be released this Friday, October 30 via Matador Records. This closing track is the culmination of a project forged from fearlessness and composed of equal parts reflection and ferocity. “Run Away From the Mob” finds Homme’s divine falsetto combined with swaggering instrumentation, originally recorded in 2013 with close-collaborator Dave Grohl on drums. “The reason these songs didn’t get finished until now is because I wasn’t qualified to finish them, yet,” Homme admits. Speaking about the song, Homme said, “It’s a letter. A last one, addressed to an oldest son – ‘if you’re reading this, everything went wrong, and here’s what you have to do’. The end is the sound of a father standing behind his son.” The official lyric video reflects this concept, showing the song’s lyrics in a font reminiscent of someone’s handwriting and depicting a Queens letterhead at the top of the frame. “Run Away From the Mob” follows previously released Perfecth songs “Where the Goth Girls At?”, described by CLASH as “a bruising bass-led feast of rock debauchery,” “Insignificant Other,” tipped as, “Queens channel the Stones as Josh Homme reaches for his most sinister falsetto croon on this deliciously callous kiss-off” by Uncut Magazine, and “Easy Street,” praised as “psychedelic” by the NME and “decidedly surreal” by DIY Magazine. The album was inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by filling its cracks with gold, which holds that what has been shattered is made more beautiful, not less, by the act of repair. Its nine songs map different forms of love: of family, friends, and others both significant and insignificant. Following a summer filled with live shows, both across Europe with System of a Down and through North America with Foo Fighters, Queens have also just announced the Perfecth World Tour 2027, which will begin May 1 at San Diego’s Viejas Arena.
