The Raconteurs reunited with Jack White on Oct. 10 at The Truth in Nashville, Tennessee, performing together for the first time since December 2019 at The Republik in Honolulu, Hawaii. The reunion took place during the encore of White’s set at the new 4,400-capacity venue, where the band performed five songs that are monumental to their history.
At the end of his set, White brought out singer and guitarist Brendan Benson, bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler for the surprise reunion. Keeler has also been performing with White’s solo touring band. The group opened with “Steady, As She Goes,” a hit from their 2006 debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers. They followed it with “Hands,” “Level” and “Broken Boy Soldier” before closing with “Carolina Drama,” from their 2008 second album, Consolers of the Lonely.
The reunion marked the first time the band had performed together since the touring cycle for Help Us Stranger, the band’s third studio album, released in 2019. The album followed an 11-year gap between studio releases and featured tracks such as “Sunday Driver,” “Now That You’re Gone” and “Help Me Stranger.”
According to NME White hinted at the reunion on social media before the show, encouraging fans to buy tickets with a subtle clue that “there might be a little surprise.” When White came back onstage for an encore he introduced his bandmates, bringing The Raconteurs back together onstage after nearly seven years of inactivity.
