Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that he did not vote for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, citing he couldn’t bring himself to support the Democratic candidate due to his personal beliefs. As a long time political activist, Morello was asked whether people on the left should have supported Harris over Donald Trump.
As Consequence reports, “When asked directly whether he voted for Harris, Morello replied, “I certainly did not.” Pressed again, he added, “Did not. I couldn’t do it.” He acknowledged that the state where he lives was unlikely to have been decided by his individual presidential vote, but said his conscience prevented him from backing Harris.”
Tom Morello (@tmorello) says he didn’t vote for Kamala Harris in 2024.
“I saw how the corporate Democrat sausage is made. It is worse than you think. And there is a righteous fury at the corporate-controlled, money-controlled electoral system we have that is absolutely illegitimate. And people cannot choke down voting for a candidate, I understand it, cannot choke down voting for a candidate that’s responsible for what happened in Gaza. And they just, they can’t do it.”

Morello drew upon his personal experience working as a scheduling secretary for former US Senator Alan Cranston. Seeing first hand how Democratic politics operate, Morello stepped away towards politics that better align with his beliefs. When asked when the last time he voted for a democratic candidate was, Morello stated he “can’t remember the last time he did.” In other news, Morello was recently joined on stage by Serj Tankian at Morello’s Power To The People festival. Tankian and Morello performed a live debut of “Adjourn It”, a track that was released earlier in May.
