Jennylee Teams Up With Johnny Marr For Cover Of The Kid Laroi’s “Girls”

Jenny Lee Lindberg covers The Kid LAROI’s “Girls,” which was released on Oct. 2.

This is Jennylee’s new music since 2023, when she released “King City (Jennylee’s Version)” with Swim Deep, and her 2022 solo album, Heart Tax.

Jennylee was inspired by the series Off Campus after hearing The Kid LAROI’s “Girls,” saying that “every time I heard it I was brought back to the world of ‘Off Campus,’ which I must say I had the time of my life watching. I had an overwhelming feeling that I should cover it.”

Jennylee asked Johnny Marr to send some guitar melodies. When he did, he made her job a lot easier. This was the first time Jennylee made a cover that was almost exactly like the original. Usually, she likes to remix the songs she covers, but this time she covered it verbatim while still showcasing her personality.

The song was recorded by Jennylee’s brother-in-law, Weston Meier, who played the drums, her partner, Jantzen Meier, who engineered the track, and Nate Pyfer, who produced the track.
