Devin Townsend unveils the truth about The Moth show and the financial setback it caused through his ambitious execution of an orchestral metal opus, which was performed in March 2025.On the “Sixty Scales and the Truth” podcast on Sept. 29, Devin Townsend returned to the stage shortly after announcing an “indefinite” break from touring for a solo tour of Europe throughout September and October, according to BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
The reality of Townsend’s return to live activity was based on financial troubles he mentioned.
“We lost a ton of money off of ‘The Moth’ show for a number of reasons, which we’re still trying to remedy it, but it’s been over a year. But the company I did a lot of the work for went bankrupt, and so we lost what our projected revenue was for that year.”
Townsend reflects and says that it’s not a particularly “romantic notion” that he’s coming back for financial reasons. He also elaborates, saying that it’s the truth and that he faced challenges with the death of his dog and splitting up with a partner of 36 years.
This was a raw, unfiltered version of him, where fans saw a shattered human and an acoustic guitar with nothing to hide.
