The night of September 27th. After 23 years, Madonna once again graces the stage of the MTV Video Music Awards. She wasn’t alone! She shared the stage with famous pop acts such as Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX.
We recently covered Madonna’s collaborative track with Charli XCX titled “Danceteria Afterhours”. They’ve once again joined forces at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. According to NME, there were numerous cameos from celebrities such as Julia Garner, Debi Mazar, Sombr and Seth Rogen.
Madonna last performed at the VMA’s in 2003 and had performed during the ceremony many before then. Madonna performed at the first VMAs 43 years ago. This year, she won seven awards! Some that she won are Artist of the Year, Best Dance for “Confessions II – The Film” and Best Collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter.
According to NME, “Bring Your Love” first made an appearance when Madonna gave a surprise performance during Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella headlining set in April. Confessions II perfectly encapsulates Madonna’s ability to push the boundaries of dance music. The performance featured dancers in bathroom stalls with celebrity guest appearances aforementioned.
Mxdwn’s review of Confessions II described it as “not simply her finest album in years but one of the richest artistic statements of her career…While the record naturally recalls Confessions on a Dance Floor, it never feels interested in recreating its predecessor. Instead, it expands upon its ideas, replacing youthful euphoria with maturity and self-examination.” The fruits of continued experimentation and artistry show in Madonna’s ability to consistently win awards at the VMA’s. Fans are eager as always to see what’s next.
