Devin Townsend announced his upcoming live album The Moth The War – Live From Groningen, set for release on Nov. 6, 2026. Townsend stated in his press release, “The live version of The Moth you are about to see is, in many ways, the definitive version.”

The album captures a live performance of Townsend’s album The Moth, which was released earlier in 2026. The performance took place at De Oosterpoort in Groningen, Netherlands, where Townsend performed the album in its entirety.

Townsend decided to release the live version of the album to demonstrate that the record’s chaotic nature was not rooted in a Pro Tools project but instead was the result of a disciplined and intentional performance featuring several hundred rehearsed people making a statement.

The track “The Lexin – The War Live” is out now and available to stream on all major platforms.

The Moth The War – Live From Groningen explores themes of self-acceptance and metamorphosis, representing a transformation from the person Townsend once was into something new. The album’s title depicts this transformation through the metaphor of a moth.
