On September 25th, Icona Pop kicked off their 10-city Ritual tour at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn while supporting their latest LP “Ritual.” The album was distributed by Ultra Records and Iconic Sound Recordings. This marks Icona Pop’s first tour show in New York since 2019. Sophie Grey opened with an electronic-infused set of pop and hip-hop influences. Icona Pop appeared through a side door in the general admission crowd and took the stage at 11 pm, opening with “Ritual” on a small stage in the back of the venue. The stage was set with a wall of purple lights and two keyboards. 

Icona Pop, comprised of Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt, has performed on stages all around the world spanning a 20-year career; seeing this group in a small Brooklyn bar was a very unique experience. The intimate setting allowed for the group to connect with the audience of longtime fans waiting for the group to return to their touring career. The Brooklyn crowd was diverse and showed up at the small venue around 10:00 pm, despite a storm occurring in New York the same night. Millennial fans were treated to the nostalgic pop hits of the 2010s that Icona Pop brings to their new show in 2026.  The Swedish duo holds the attention of the crowd with the recent single “Butterfly Feelings,” as the second song of the set, and they go into the 2013 hit “All Night.” The danceable album “Ritual” was showcased through the set as Icona Pop breaks into a new era of techno music that suits the ever-growing Brooklyn house music scene. 

The pop group had limited interaction with the audience between songs, thanking fans for their patience as they made a new album and put together a new show while on their time off from the road. Fans who may not know the duo in attendance but might have been brought by others would be familiar with “Emergency” from their 2015 EP. Standing out as a highlight moment of their set, they leaned into the pop nostalgia by jumping  into their worldwide hit “I Love It.” A song that has been streamed over 1.4 billion times, making it their top song to date, and still resonates powerfully in a live crowd 13 years post-release. After midnight in the venue, the duo keeps the energy up with their newer releases and closes the show with “Dance To This,” utilizing a DJ workstation on stage. They return for an encore and ask for requests and select their 2012 single “We Got The World” from their debut album “Icona Pop” to end their set in Brooklyn after midnight. 

Icona Pop presents a strong return to touring with their new show and enthusiasm for being back together on stage. The Ritual tour celebrates the 17-year career of Icona Pop and brings nostalgia to the techno, house music scene across 18 songs in a 90-minute set.
