Queens of the Stone Age have released their new single, “Where The Goth Girls At,” as the third single from their ninth studio album, Perfecth. The track pairs raw, minimalist riffs with an explosive chorus, amplified by rich string and horn arrangements. Drawing on inspiration and nostalgia from founder Josh Homme’s youth in a Palm Desert suburb, the song centers on themes of teenage love and the desire to impress others. The band reunited with “Easy Street” video directors Christopher Gruse & Tony Wolsk to create a music video, which was released alongside the song’s release across streaming platforms. The video features comedian Steve Agee, dancer/artist Scarlett Kapella, singer/actress Lou Lou Safran, and Queens’ band members. Set against the backdrop of a deserted power plant, the music video depicts the workers at the power plant patrolling the facility, with Josh Homme playing the role of the power plant’s head. However, as the video goes on, one goth girl makes it her goal to “infect” all the workers around her, continuing to strike until there’s no one left at the plant who isn’t goth.
“Where the Goth Girls At?” follows the band’s previously released singles “Insignificant Other” and “Easy Street” ahead of the release of Perfecth on October 30. The upcoming album was produced by Homme and band member Michael Shuman. Described as being made in the spirit of Kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by filling its cracks with gold, which holds that what has been shattered is made more beautiful, not less, by the act of repair—the album’s nine songs map different forms of love: of family, friends, and others both significant and insignificant. “Every song sounds like it’s from different world,” says Homme. “And that’s on purpose, because it’s trying to stitch together all these emotions revolving around love, lust, foolishness, and the sort of wisdom that comes as a gift from all that.” According to Blabbermouth, the album is called “Perfecth” because “‘perfect,’ as a word, has never been honest. It doesn’t exist. So, Homme broke the word and made it “perfecth,” a more appropriate spelling for a term that never felt right to begin with.” “Nothing in this world is perfect, but everything seems to be ‘perfecth’,” Homme explained. “And that title is funny when you’re in a group, but it ain’t so funny when you’re alone.”
Queens of the Stone Age resumed their North American stadium tour with Foo Fighters on September 15. They have also recently announced a fall headline tour in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Singapore, along with a show at Mexico City’s Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes with Interpol on March 6, 2027.
