According to NME.com, Jimmy Eat World have cancelled some of tour dates as frontman Jim Adkins recovers from emergency surgery. The Arizona emo band have been out on the road since June, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their 2001 breakthrough album, Bleed American, by playing the record in full alongside cuts from 1999’s Clarity and 2004’s Futures and a host of B-sides. Already, the namd have kicked off the shows with a run of U.S. headline dates.

But over the past weekend, however, the band sadly had to pulled out of their scheduled appearance at the Warped Tour in Mexico City and now, they have explained that the move was done as their frontman had a “detached retina” and needed emergency surgery. “Sunday, as we were preparing to play at Warped Tour in Mexico City I noticed a shadow cloud creeping in on my vision. With some quick research, I knew I had to seek medical help immediately,” said Adkins’ social media stsatement.
The artist adds: “After an exam, it was discovered that I had a detached retina and needed surgery asap. Per doctors orders, attempting to do the show could have caused permanent damage, so we had to make the tough decision to cancel our performance.” He went on to say that he is now “back home, out of surgery and starting the recovery process”. While he is on the mend, however, the band will have to pull out of their scheduled slots at Louder Than Life in Louisville and Shaky Knees in Atlanta, each planned for this week.
