Tweedy expressed that he didn’t want to sound like Caspian Holliwell, the singer of Twisted Teens. When covering the song, Tweedy didn’t want to imitate but instead tries to sound like himself when covering the track. After recording it, he stated:
“On this one, I think I still sound like myself. I actually kind of feel like I maybe sound like a younger version of myself.”
The cover is Tweedy and his guitar, an intimate cover that makes the listener focus on the words and Tweedy’s vocal delivery. It differs from the energetic and punk delivery of Twisted Teens and makes it a more personal experience.
