Join the pack! British rock band Nothing But Thieves presents The Stray Dogs Tour in support of their upcoming album in venues across the world, landing in NYC at Brooklyn Paramount on April 17th.
Formed in Essex in 2012 by vocalist and guitarist Conor Mason, guitarist Joe Langridge-Brown, bassist Philip Blake, keyboardist Dominic Craik, and drummer James Price, Nothing But Thieves first broke out in 2015 with their BBC Radio 1 hit “Itch,” which the station highlighted in the Hottest Record spotlight and included in their playlist of heavy-rotation songs. Signing with Sony Music, the band released their debut album, Nothing But Thieves, later that year, which became the highest-selling record by a UK rock band that year, peaking at No. 7 on the UK Albums Chart and including the Billboard Alternative Songs chart-topping single, “Trip Switch.” Their sophomore album, 2017’s Broken Machine, extended their global reach, becoming a Top 10 album in Scotland, New Zealand, and the Netherlands. The album upscaled the passion and power of their already massive sound with its heavy-hitting, breathtaking instrumentals, incredible hooks, and stadium-ready anthems, all wrapped up in a beautiful bow by Mason’s soaring multi-octave vocal range.
After a straightforward rock EP, What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way, in 2018, Nothing But Thieves further expanded their already wide sonic palette on 2020’s Moral Panic to include R&B, dance-pop, electronica, orchestral strings, and more sometimes within the same track, accompanying lyrics that deal with the rapidly declining state of the world. They continued in a similar direction in 2023 with Dead Club City, a concept album about a dystopian “Members Only”-club that explores the potential ramifications of the way we live today, which took on a lighter disco-inflected alternative rock tinge and became the band’s first release to reach No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, including BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record of the Year single “Welcome to the DCC.”
Nothing But Thieves is now set to release their newest album, Stray Dogs, on September 25th, which will be centered around “the pack and momentum” and feature four already-released singles. The band returns with a simmering, slow-build electronic intro on the opening title-track before launching into one of their most rocking riffs yet, turns up the heat on high-octane uplifter “Evolution,” embraces their sweet side on driving love song “Baby Kool (Evelyn), and closes off the album with “one of our favorite songs ever written,” “A Different Kind of Happiness.” After celebrating the record’s release with a bold “Three shows. Three countries. ONE day” run in “the kinds of rooms and chaos that the pack started in” in Utrecht, Brussels, and London, the band will embark on a tour across the EU, UK, Ireland, and North America with dates in South America and Australia to come. Having shared stages with bands of the likes of Muse, Twenty One Pilots, and Green Day and being known for their concerts featuring enormous sonic power and transcendent energy with album-level vocals, crushing instrumental medleys, atmospheric visuals, and pumped-up crowd interaction, the upcoming Stray Dogs Tour is one you won’t want to miss.
