Tyler, The Creator is back in his bag, and this time, he’s linking up with South Central L.A. rapper AZ Chike for a seriously fun new collaboration. The two have joined forces for “Look Like My Mama,” a new single from AZ Chike’s upcoming album No Rest for the Wicked, out September 18 via Warner Records. Tyler produced the track, and the collaboration comes with a cinematic new video directed by Stacking Memories.
The song itself is basically a nonstop back-and-forth between the two rappers. There’s no traditional chorus taking over the track; instead, AZ Chike and Tyler trade bars over a funky, off-kilter beat that sounds exactly like the kind of left turn you’d expect from Tyler. The production has a loose West Coast bounce to it, but Tyler adds plenty of strange little touches that keep it from sounding too straightforward. It’s funky, cartoonish, and a little weird in the best possible way. Pitchfork described the track as an “extremely fun new back-and-forth shit-talk session,” and that pretty much nails the energy.

“Look Like My Mama” is also a pretty major moment for AZ Chike, who has been building serious momentum over the last couple of years. He got one of his biggest looks when he appeared alongside Kendrick Lamar on “peekaboo” from GNX, and he has continued stacking up collaborations and releases since then. Now, with No Rest for the Wicked arriving next month, teaming up with Tyler feels like another big step.
