10 years, 10 sHows! ScHoolboy Q embarks on a North American tour for the tenth anniversary of his beloved album, Blank Face LP, stopping in NYC on October 3rd with an exclusive performance at Brooklyn Paramount.
Having been born in Germany and grown up in Los Angeles, Quincy Matthew Hanley (aka ScHoolboy Q) dropped two locally successful mixtapes, ScHoolboy Turned Hustla (2008) and Gangsta & Soul (2009), before releasing his first two studio albums, 2011’s Setbacks and 2012’s Habits & Contradictions, through Top Dawg Entertainment, which charted at No. 100 and No. 111 respectively on the Billboard Hot 200. In 2014, he made his major-label debut, Oxymoron, through Interscope Records which topped the Hot 200 and included the multi-platinum certified singles “Collard Greens” (ft. Kendrick Lamar) and “Studio” (ft. BJ the Chicago Kid). In 2016, he released the wildly successful, career-defining album, Blank Face LP, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 200, No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. Including features from both established and soon-to-be hip-hop legends like Kanye West, Jadakiss, Vince Staples, and Anderson. Paak, the album is a personal masterpiece with an especially gritty sound as Q very candidly reflects on the struggles of his past, the problems facing the country, and the joy and the pride he has found as he’s grown throughout his career. Opening up about lost innocence, gang violence, police injustice, fatherhood, and more, Blank Face LP, is one of Q’s most vulnerable, well-rounded albums to date.
ScHoolboy Q followed up 2019 with CrasH before going on a five-year hiatus, which he broke in 2024 with BLUE LIPS. In 2026, he is set to head out on a ten-date run for the tenth anniversary of Blank Face LP and has announced a new album entitled, tHank Que, which is scheduled to release soon. Praised for his resilient, self-assured sound and high-energy concerts filled with stage dives, mosh pits, and incredible audience interaction, including bringing people on stage and letting fans request songs, ScHoolboy Q has become one of the defining voices of 2010s rap.
